BA CHORUS

Brentwood Academy offers three sections of chorus for students to choose as an elective. This includes 6th grade chorus, combined Chorus 7 and 8, and an upper school chorus. Students in chorus prepare music for performances , as well as learn the disciplines of proper vocal technique, sight-singing, ear-training, and music history to support group performances.

The primary goal of the BA chorus program is to encourage students with a desire to be well-rounded, self-sufficient musicians, who can continue a passion and love for singing whether professionally or in their community.

“For me, singing is a form of prayer. There’s emotion involved, the whole body, and it becomes prayer and praise. I also love when students discover the wonderful, beautiful gifts that God gave them that maybe they didn’t realize that they had. Some of my best theology I learned from the church choir, and I bring that experience into my teaching at BA.”

MEET THE FACULTY

MARK WOODWARD

 

MARK WOODWARD

Mark Woodward graduated with Honors from Belmont University having studied composition, arranging, and music technology as a piano principal with a secondary in voice.

He has toured nationally and internationally playing keyboard and singing background vocals with Christian artists and bands Jeff Deyo, After Edmund, MikesChair, Chris McClarney, and others.

Before coming to BA he was the Music and Drama Director at Montessori Academy, where he served for 14 years teaching General Music, directing choirs and putting on the annual school musical.

He is the author and composer of Maria Montessori: The Musical which has been performed at schools across the United States and worldwide on four continents.

Mr. Woodward resides in Nashville with his wife Faith and their six children Shannon Joy, Amelia Grace, George Winston, John Mark, Abraham True, and Harvest Rose.

Mr. Woodward enjoys teaching and hopes to honor God and inspire young people through music.
